The 17th session of the AUPF was hosted by Petra Christian University of Indonesia from November 6 to 8, 2018. Over 140 presidents, professors, scholars and educators from 63 universities in 14 countries and regions participated.

The theme of this session was “Disruption at the Crossroads: Innovative Engagement and Future Challenges for Higher Education”. Presidents shared their points of view on opportunities and challenges facing the higher education of Asia and their thoughts on innovative approaches to promote the common development of Asian higher education.

Discussions and dialogues took place during two days of parallel sessions and round-table discussion. In addition to the experience sharing and cooperation discussion, MOU signing ceremony was held and 144 MOU were signed during the Ceremony. The cultural event such as city tour and optional tour were also organized by the host university.

During the standing committee meeting before the opening ceremony, the host university reported on the progress and preparation for the Forum. The meeting approved Guangdong University of Foreign Studies’ proposal on hosting the 1st Asian Faculty Workshop (AFW) from July 27th to August 3rd, 2019. In addition, the committee decided that the 19th session(2020) will be held in India by Vellore Institute of Technology and the Asian Summer Program 2020 will be held in Malaysia by Universiti Malaysia Perlis.

The 17th session of AUPF was a successful gathering for all participants. Dr. Djwantoro Hardjito expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and strong support extended to the organizing committee. AUPF official flag was handed over to Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Founder & Chairman, Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University, Bangladesh during the closing ceremony.
